SMART CITY LIVING
Smart Cities are a natural and necessary progression for urbanised cities around the world.
The concept of ‘Smart City’ varies – there is no universal consensus yet on what defines a Smart City, but the overarching idea points towards the use of technology in innovative ways to integrate components of a city.
These components include its government, the human networks, and the environment, to find the best and most efficient, earth-friendly solutions for the city of the future.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
At the Selangor Smart City International Conference 2016, you’ll mingle with some of the best – such as Smart City pioneers, innovators, thought leaders and peers. Walk away with a deeper insight to what drives cities, their unique challenges and appreciate the progress made possible through the collective intelligence and coordination fuelling the power of human innovation.
As part of the Selangor Government’s push to develop Selangor into a smarter city, this conference sets the tone for future proceedings towards that vision. The Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) has been given the mandate to direct the state’s efforts towards the planning and development of Selangor as a Smart City, and this will be revealed through the unveiling of the Smart Selangor Blueprint by the Chief Minister of Selangor, Y.A.B Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Bin Ali.
With leading innovators and established international personalities making an appearance, there will be actionable takeaways via the sharing of information, trends and knowledge in order to further establish and build on the existing policy framework for a Smart City catered to the unique needs of Selangor.
This conference aims to rouse discussion and interaction between leading government officials, GLCs, policy planners, city councils, service providers, startups, merchants and the private sector.
PLATFORM FOR DIALOGUEBridges gaps between the government, academia, the tech world, the public and private service providers in order to pursue an efficient and effective smart city agenda.
FRAMEWORK ADAPTATIONIdentifies and adapts basic frameworks and solutions of other cities to be applicable in a local context by learning from flagship Smart Cities through interaction with their industry experts, academicians, city planners and governments of ‘smart cities’ in order to understand their cities’ frameworks, challenges and applications.
IDENTIFICATION OF CHALLENGESIdentifies challenges and limitations of plausible frameworks, especially the standards, services and applications that Selangor can adapt or adopt in order to fulfill the Smart Selangor vision set out by the Selangor State Government.
The first day’s proceedings will culminate in an exciting, forward-looking plenary in the style of a fireside chat where service providers and smart startups will discuss the various challenges they face, and how to best move forward henceforth.
